What should I prepare before starting?

Start with a text description. In the image Playground, Nano Banana 2 also accepts reference images for visual guidance and generative edits. Use clear references and explain what should change or stay the same.

How is this different from a Y2K background?

A profile picture must preserve a recognizable face in a small crop. The background and decorations should support that face rather than become the subject.

What should I check in the generated result?

Compare the likeness with the reference and inspect the small circular crop. Keep the original brief or reference beside the output and compare before choosing a version.

Does generation use credits?

Generation uses credits. Check the selected model’s price and your plan before generating. Regenerating a variation also uses credits; begin with a focused brief and review the first result before making more.

Shape the creative brief

Flash-era portrait

Use direct-flash lighting or a soft airbrushed finish.

Glossy accents

Limit chrome stars, jelly shapes, and sparkle details to supporting roles.

Avatar crop

Keep decorations away from the eyes and face outline.

Two prompts to start with

Use these written examples as a starting point. Adapt the subject and references to your project; generated results will vary.

First direction

Use my portrait reference for a Y2K profile picture: soft pink direct-flash look, two chrome stars near the edges, centered face, square crop, no text.

Another approach

An original illustrated avatar with translucent blue sunglasses, silver accents, pale lavender background, early-digital visual style, readable face.

Finishing the result

Decorations and lettering are generated into the image, so exact placement may need a finishing edit.
